After four decades of producing, recording, and performing high-caliber music, prolific rock foursome Stryper continues to relentlessly show itself as a renewed force with unquenchable firepower.

As the band continues its legacy following an ambitious 40th anniversary run, Stryper returns with its 18th studio album, Throne of Thorns (Frontiers Music Srl). The new release further solidifies the group’s signature sound while pushing it forward with a fresh and inspired edge.

“This album is 100% Stryper, yet it has its own unique signature,” says frontman Michael Sweet. “It was important for me to write songs that are straight ahead, yet have little things here and there that might surprise the fans. It was also very important to create a mix of songs that are individually their own, yet at the same time tie together to create a powerful message and memorable music that will live on indefinitely. This is that album, without question. Get ready for Throne of Thorns.”

The album continues Stryper’s tradition of delivering tight harmonies, riff-driven instrumentation and impassioned vocals, while offering a cohesive listening experience that blends power, melody, and message. “This is our 18th studio album and at this rate, maybe we’ll meet that 21 goal,” Sweet adds.

Stryper has continued to build strong momentum with When We Were Kings, which charted on multiple Billboard charts, including a No. 2 position on the Christian Albums chart, while also expanding its catalog with releases like the acoustic project To Hell With The Amps and a long-awaited Christmas album, The Greatest Gift of All, released in November of 2025.

The band has also made steady progress on its highly anticipated Kickstarter-funded documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a “Projects We Love” designation on the platform.

When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard rock genre, Stryper remains renowned for its trademark style of “heavenly metal,” remarkable crossover success and enduring legacy. The group rose to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like “Calling on You,” “Honestly,” and “Always There for You.”

Stryper’s career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986’s standard-bearing multiplatinum release To Hell with the Devil. The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously in MTV’s Top 10 with the videos “Free” and “Honestly.”

Today, more than 40 years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, Stryper continues to record, tour, and perform for devoted fans around the globe. Featuring three original members including brothers Michael Sweet (lead vocals, guitar) and Robert Sweet (drums), Oz Fox (guitar), and veteran bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse), the group continues to create some of its most powerful and enduring music to date.
